Admission Procedure

1. Eligibility Criteria

  • Domicile:  Must be a domicile of UT of J&K or UT of Ladakh.
  • Qualification:
  • For all courses  except Medical Lab Technology (MLT)  : Passed 10th (Matriculation) from a recognized Board.
  • For MLT only:  Passed 12th in the Medical stream.
  • Minimum Marks:  At least  35%  in 10th/12th class (for both Open Merit and Reserved Category candidates).
  • Age:  No upper age bar.

2. Admission Basis (Merit List)

  • A  Merit List  is prepared based on the  aggregate marks obtained in the qualifying examination  (10th or 12th for MLT).
  • No entrance exam . Admission is direct on merit of board exams.
  • For  Sports Category : 60% weightage to qualifying exam merit + 40% weightage to sports points (awarded by J&K Sports Council).

3. Reservation Categories (Government Colleges only - as per S.O. 176 dated 15-03-2024)

9 Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) - Supernumerary 5%

Note:  TFW is for Open Merit candidates with family income < ?6 lakh per annum.

4. Fee Structure

  • Government Polytechnic:  ?2,155 + insurance fee  per annum

  • Application Fee:  Pay online via Credit Card/Debit Card/UPI (Integrated Payment Gateway).
  • Documents to upload (self-attested, JPEG, 50kb+):
  • Domicile Certificate
  • 10th Marks Card (12th Marks Card for MLT candidates)
  • 10th/12th Certificate (for Date of Birth)
  • Category Certificate (if applying under reserved category, including Sports/TFW)
  • Recent passport-size photograph (taken on or after 01-01-2026, light background, no cap/sunglasses)
  • Minimum preferences to fill:  At least  four (4)  college/branch preferences.

6. Important Notes

  • No change in category  is allowed after form submission.
  • No "under process" certificate  is accepted for reserved categories.
  • Certificate must be valid at the time of form submission  and  at counseling.
  • For  Sports category , certificates must also be submitted to Secretary, J&K Sports Council for points.
