The Scheme Community Development Through Polytechnics has been launched in Month of February during the financial year 2009-10 under GOI Ministry of Human Resources Development Department (Deptt of higher Education). The project is doing its steady progress and improving its performance every time under the guidance of chief coordinator / Principal, Government Polytechnic for Women Jammu.
The main objectives of the scheme are:
Under this scheme various activities for the development of rural masses and for the persons living Below Poverty Line have been taken up, but the main activity is imparting various skill development Vocational Training Programme to the rural youth, SC/ST/Min/OBC/Females and other category persons in order to empower them with the vocational courses / training to improve the socio economic of the rural masses and to improve their living standard.
For the effective implementation of the said scheme, the Institution has set up various extension centres in the rural areas in addition to the main centre in the institution. At present we are imparting the skill development courses in the following trades:
